π About the Organiser
The English-Speaking Union (ESU), established in 1918 and founded by Sir Evelyn Wrench, is one of the UKβs oldest educational charities. Governed by a Royal Charter and headquartered at Dartmouth House, London, the ESUβs patrons have included Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, Sir Winston Churchill, and His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh. With 54 branches worldwide and over one million young participants, the ESU is a global leader in promoting English communication, cultural understanding, and oracy skills for peace and progress.
π Why Join YPSC?
β The first international public speaking competition for ages 6β16, inspired by ESUβs world-renowned IPSC (ages 16β20).
β Designed to develop oracy, the core speaking skill equivalent to literacy and numeracy.
β Focused on four skill sets: Reasoning & Evidence, Listening & Response, Expression & Delivery, and Organisation & Prioritisation.
β Provides international exposureβfrom online preliminary rounds to live finals in Macau and the University of Cambridge.
